The fragile hopes for peace in Sudan have been dashed after talks between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) failed in Addis Ababa. Fighting has resumed in Khartoum, Darfur, and other conflict zones, displacing over 9 million people.

The United Nations describes the humanitarian crisis as one of the worst in Africa, with famine looming in parts of western Sudan. Healthcare systems have collapsed, and humanitarian aid convoys have faced attacks and looting.

The African Union and international partners have called for an immediate ceasefire and renewed negotiations. Meanwhile, refugees are flooding into neighboring countries like Chad and South Sudan, overwhelming local services.
